Freediving Marsa Shagra in Egypt, Red Sea
Experience freediving in Marsa Shagra in Egypt and the Red Sea, a perfect place for those who don't want to travel that far.
Marsa Shagra is an eco lodge and perfect for your diving trip to Egypt for those who really want to focus on snorkeling, freediving or scuba diving. Marsa Alam is located directly on the sea where you experience peace and quiet directly on the beach of the Red Sea. There are various accommodations here with Royal tents and small cozy huts. For those looking for comfortable accommodation with air conditioning, there are several so-called deluxe chalets. If there is space, you can upgrade your accommodation according to your wishes.
There is also a communal dining room and massages are available on site. Various opportunities for shore excursions are also available. The price of your diving trip includes full board. The package includes free diving from shore for five days or the number of days you wish.
Three different types and sizesandaRDS on accommodations:
- Royal tents – These tents are almost twice as large as regular tents – it is included in the price of the trip.
- Hut – A smaller bungalow similar to a stone house
- Delux chalet – 24 m2 large stone house with rounded roof.
You dive directly from land and you can dive as much as you want. You can also dive from a boat for an additional fee. The area is divided into different zones depending on the distance from the resort and these boat dives are booked and paid for directly on site. Diving around Marsa Shagra
The house reef at Marsa Shagra has one of the richest reefs along the coast in terms of marine life. The area has also been a protected area for the past 20 years. Many of the rarer species in the Red Sea can be found directly on the house reef. The reef is also frequented by larger pelagic animals such as dolphins and manta rays. The advantage here is that you can dive as much as you want from land here. The house reef starts directly at the beach and you will find lots of fun to watch or photograph and film. For those who snorkel, the reef is already full of life below the surface before it drips down to the far end.
Boat trips can offer big encounters, sharks, dugongs and more
In the region around Marsa Alam, you also have the chance to see and dive with slightly larger animals. If you are lucky, you can see both dolphins, dugong (manatee) and large sea turtles. If you take a trip to Elpinstone, you may also have the chance to see several species of shark. Marsa Shagra has a variety of dive sites frequented by divers.
The world-renowned dive site and Elphinstone reef is a long extended reef that rises in the depths to the surface. Here there are breathtaking drop-offs on both the west and east walls. The walls are covered in beautiful hard and soft corals and inhabited by a teeming marine life. At both ends of the walls are plateaus that are often patrolled by various sharks of which year fin sharkand hammerhead sharks are perhaps the most spectacular. Also manta rays, whale sharks and thresher sharks are sometimes seen here and other pelagic creatures. (To dive at Elphinstone you need at least 30 logged dives to be allowed to dive here). Out at sea you can often see different things liveaboard pass on its way to the various reefs that offer among the best diving in Egypt.
Red Sea Diving Safari Eco Lodge
Buddy Dive Resort is a lovely resort that offers accommodation, with packages where you can learn to dive, dive on your own, dive by boat, dive from shore, car rental and much more.
This is perhaps the easiest and most comfortable diving in the world. You don't have to meet any deadlines and you basically do it all by yourself.
Accommodation includes apartments of various sizes and the accommodation offers breakfast and then you choose which diving package you want and the number of nights.
Itinerary day by day
Day 1
You leave Scandinavia and fly to Hurghada. Arrival on site and transfer to Marsa Shagra
Day 2 - 7
Your freediving days will last for 5 days and you will have unlimited access to the house reef during the daytime every day.
Day 8
It's time to head home again after a magical holiday in the Red Sea and Marsa Shagra and have a transfer for your flight home. You landaI'm back home after a trip filled with diving and great memories.
