Best of South Red Sea is a trip for those who love tropical diving and want to experience the Red Sea at its best, together with a committed and friendly group of divers.

Join us on a diving adventure to the southern Red Sea's hand-picked hidden gems during the fall holidays of 2026 - a time of year when these dive areas usually show their best side, with bustling marine life and good conditions for really good diving.

On board the liveaboard Sea Serpent Excellence We will target the southern Red Sea's most well-known dive sites such as Rocky Island, Zabargad, St Johns, Fury Shoals, Sataya and Elphinstone, which offer dramatic topography, colorful coral reefs, large schools of fish, pelagic visitors and memorable encounters below the surface. During the week there are good chances of encounters with the legendary Oceanic whitetip shark and even hammerhead sharks if you are lucky. Around Sataya there are groups of spinner dolphins that usually hang out, and we will make an attempt to meet them.

The diving

“Best of the South Red Sea” is a fantastic liveaboard diving trip to the southern parts of the Egyptian Red Sea. It will be a wonderful week where we dive around Marsa Alam, Rocky Island, Zabargad, St Johns, Fury Shoals and finish with Elphinstone and Marsa Shouna. A total of 6 diving days.

Marsa Alam In the area we dive the first day with a simple check dive then one or two more dives on the coral reefs that have been hottest the weeks before. Often it is around the Abu Dabbab area, where you might see a manatee.

Rocky Island is one of the Red Sea's most legendary dive sites - isolated, dramatic and completely surrounded by deep blue sea. Below the surface you will be met by steep walls, crystal clear water and large pelagic encounters. Rocky is a little extra exciting if you have a camera or GoPro with you, you can immortalize the feeling of adventure and wild nature.

Ön Zabargad rises majestically out of the sea, and is a classic dive destination. Zabargad is not far from Rocky. It offers spectacular walls with lots of soft coral in every red, purple and pink tone you can imagine.

St John's reff conveys an untouched feeling. It is a reef complex with several different coral pillars, and coral gardens. Nice cave openings, chance to see several different species of sharks, dolphins and other large fish. A popular area for taking spectacular wide-angle photos.

Fury Shoals consists of a separate system of coral reefs just north of St. John's. There are two classic dive sites here Shaab Claudia (iconic for its labyrinthine caves and light shafts and Shaab Maksour (which can be compared to a kind of Elphinstone Extra Large).

When next to Fury Shoals lies Sataya (Dolphin Reef). A horseshoe-shaped reef where we hope to have the opportunity to snorkel with the spinner dolphins that usually gather in the lagoon to hang out there every day. We will try to meet them, and there is a good chance to take pictures of dolphins under the surface. The outside of the reef offers a nice sloping coral reef.

Elphinstone Reef is an iconic dive site. The reef is what is known as an “off shore” reef. It can be described as a detached reef, far from the coastline, which is known for large pelagic encounters. During this time, regular visits by Oceanic whitetip sharks are normal, but several other shark species, loggerhead turtles and beautiful coral walls await. Photogenic, clear water creates perfect opportunities for wide-angle shots.

Marsa Shouna is a perfect area to end the tour in. A large, calm and shallow bay that in addition to coral has lush meadows of turtle grass, where huge green turtles often graze undisturbed. The meadows are rich in life with special species such as honeycomb stingray, guitar rays, seahorses, ghost stingrays, small flying fish, or Indian mackerel. Perfect finishing dives for photography, with shallow depths, long bottom times and close encounters.
