Diving trip

Diving trip

What is a diving trip?

A diving trip for us is a trip where you will spend a larger part or the entire trip focusing on diving or snorkeling. We know that diving and snorkeling give you fantastic, fun and exciting experiences and an active vacation. You can go alone or bring the whole family. There is a diving trip to suit everyone. But before you decide where to go on a diving trip, there are a few things to consider so that you get the most out of it.

How much does it cost to go on a diving trip and what affects the price?

The price of a diving trip depends on several factors and can vary enormously, so it is difficult to answer the question more specifically if we do not know more about what you want to see and experience, when and for how long. You can find some examples here.

  • Airfares determine a large part of the price of a trip and prices change daily. You will get better prices when you book early. This is especially true for diving trips during holidays when many people want to travel and not just from Sweden. In many other countries, people book their diving trip at least 10 months before departure, sometimes even longer if there are specific destinations that are popular and often get fully booked well in advance.
  • How long you want to be away of course also determines the price, fewer nights in place and it will be cheaper.
  • Exchange rates affect the price of a diving trip
  • Depending on the pieceandaThe type of accommodation you choose also affects this. Simple but functional accommodation can save you a lot of money, while more luxurious accommodation will obviously increase the price.
  • Similarly, a liveaboard can have different types of cabins which affect the price.
  • The number of dives and dive days will affect the price of a diving trip. If you want to dive a lot, it usually costs more and for those who are happy with a couple of dives a day, you can save a lot, at the same time it depends on what type of trip you have. Maybe the diving is included regardless of the number of dives you do.

It is very difficult to say exactly how much it costs to go on a diving trip. That is why we tailor solutions to you upon request so that you get a proposal to start from. Then we change and adjust it so that it fits as well as possible. Contact us for a free proposal!

What kind of diving do you want to do?

Think about what you want to see and experience and what type of diving you want during your diving trip. We offer a large number of destinations with great variation in all aspects. Diving trips can look very different and include different amounts of diving and different types of experiences when you snorkel or dive.

  • For example, if you love wrecks, you can go to Truk Lagoon in Micronesia and dive in one of the world's best places for wreck diving. Remote and exciting but with a fantastic focus on wrecks.
  • If you're going with the family, why not give it a try Maldiverna or Bali where the whole family can easily snorkel or dive among manta rays and on the coral reef and at the same time have the opportunity to sunbathe, relax or have time for experiences on land.
  • If you are a true diving enthusiast, then a live board absolutely right to try. You live on a boat and dive a lot.

How much time do you have?

Some destinations are better suited for those with limited time. All our diving trips to The red sea or Mediterranean Sea with Egypt, Malta, Jordan or Croatia are perfect for those of you who have no more than a week or a few extra days for your diving adventure. The flight takes six to eight hours at most, and the time change is not a big problem. Even the Maldives can be done in just over a week BonaireCuraçao or outright Anilao outside Manila or Manado on Sulawesi. It's slightly longer flights and a couple of days extra, but you still have a week in place to dive.

  • In the Mediterranean you have good diving, and in particular at Malta and Gozo there is a lot of wreck diving and technical diving.
  • Egypt is the closest tropical diving country to us, offering a huge diversity of fish and animals.
  • Jordan has a rich culture, great food and great diving. There are also plenty of wrecks and lots of marine life here.

If you have a little more time, there are exciting destinations such as the Maldives, PhilippinesBali in Indonesia, Bonaire and Curaçao which often take more than ten to twelve hours to fly to. Sometimes even up to a day, but with good planning you can travel here in just over a week if you don't think the flight is that much.

Some places require time to get to

Some places require more time and take longer to travel to. For example, in the Philippines and Indonesia, there are places that require you to fly domestically upon arrival, which may mean you have to stay overnight on the way depending on how flights match up.
For example Raja AmpatMaratuaKomodo, AlorWakatobiDauinAnda>Southern Leyte and more. Other places require double international flights and here you need to have quite a lot of time as the travel takes so much time. Examples of places are Truk Lagoon, YapPalauPapua New GuineaSolomon Islands and several others.

  • We strongly recommend Liveaboard because you get to the dive sites that are further away. Most of the time you are the only divers at the site and you don't have to crowd with other divers.
  • If you don't want to stay on a boat, we also have contact with good accommodations and dive centers with well-organized diving. Where you can dive at least twice a day and sometimes much more.
Last minute or vice versa?

Many of our destinations are popular and quickly book up well in advance. Therefore, as we have said, it is always a good idea to be out in good time. Some diving trips that we plan for groups we only run one or a few times a year. You need to book these trips well in advance. They are often to destinations that are far away, or where diving is only possible at certain times of the year. Examples are Bahamas, which has few operators or the Philippines included Tubbataha reefs which has stable weather only for a few months.

Other destinations have their absolute best diving only parts of the year. For example Galapagos where the whale sharks come in season or South Africa where some sharks are only seen during certain parts of the year. The humpback whales at Silver Banks in the Caribbean. Another is Mexico with sailfish, manta rays, whale sharks and more or Australia with Christmas Island crab migration or the minke whales at the great barrier reefThese trips can get fully booked up to a couple of years in advance so we highly recommend not waiting.

Sometimes we have trips left that can be booked at short notice. You may not have the same opportunity to have your diving trip tailored. The best dive sites and the best diving are also the ones that are booked up the fastest. Divers from all over the world want to travel. Booking in time is really what we recommend, even though we know it can be difficult sometimes.

Go alone, with family or in a group?

Most of our destinations are perfect for everyone. It is possible to combine diving with other activities if you do not want to spend all your time in the sea. There are often many family-friendly activities on land as well. Snorkeling, sunbathing, safaris and other nature experiences are a way to spice up your diving trip. And also give others who do not dive the opportunity to appreciate the trip more. You can also book diving trips to learn to dive and get a diving certificate.

If, on the other hand, you are traveling with a group of dedicated divers, you may want to spend as much time in the ocean as possible. In that case, we highly recommend one of our liveaboards, where you live, eat and sleep directly on the dive boat, thus maximizing your dive time. Simply put, a perfect dive trip – See Departures

With land-based diving, you stay at a hotel or resort and take day trips by boat. You can combine diving with other activities on land such as restaurants, sightseeing and beach life. A liveaboard means that you live aboard a dive boat and do more dives per day in more remote locations. Liveaboard is suitable for those who want to dive a lot, land-based is suitable for those who want variety.

A liveaboard is a dive boat where you live on board for the entire duration of your dive trip, usually a week. You typically do 2-4 dives per day, have full board, and sleep in cabins. The advantage is that you can reach remote dive sites far from land that day-based boats cannot reach. It is perfect for those who want to maximize their diving. The concept of eat-dive-sleep makes it a comfortable experience.

Children can start snorkeling as soon as they are able to swim and are comfortable in the water, usually from the age of 5-6. For scuba diving, children can take the PADI Bubblemaker from the age of 8 (maximum depth of 2 meters) and the Junior Open Water Diver from the age of 10 (maximum depth of 12 meters). Freediving courses are available from the age of 10-12. Children's sized equipment is available at most dive destinations.

Wreck diving involves exploring sunken ships, aircraft, or other objects underwater. There are wrecks of all levels of difficulty, from shallow, easily accessible wrecks for beginners to deep penetration dives inside wrecks that require specialized training. Popular wreck destinations include The red sea (SS Thistlegorm), Coron i Philippines and Truk Lagoon in Micronesia

Cave diving involves diving into underwater caves and cave systems. It is one of the most advanced forms of diving and requires specialized training, dual air sources, guide lines, and special safety equipment. Mexico Cenotes on the Yucatán Peninsula are the world's most famous cave diving destination with crystal clear water and stunning limestone formations.

Muck diving is diving over sandy or muddy bottoms where you look for unusual, often small underwater animals. Although the bottom may look drab, it hides amazing creatures such as octopuses, seahorses, scorpionfish and nudibranchs. Lembeh Strait i IIndonesia is the world's most famous destination for muck diving and a paradise for underwater photographers.

Drift diving involves letting the ocean current carry you forward during the dive instead of swimming yourself. It is energy-efficient and exciting. The current often carries nutrients that attract large animals such as manta rays, sharks and large schools of fish. Popular destinations for drift diving include Komodo i Indonesia, of the Maldives channels and Cozumel i Mexico.

Night diving is diving after dark using a dive light. Many marine animals are nocturnal. You can see crayfish, octopuses, seahorses and corals blooming at night. It is a completely different experience compared to day diving. Night diving is offered at most dive destinations.
