Lotta Schwarz
For Lotta Schwarz, the sea has been a central part of her life. Just over forty years ago, she backpacked to Egypt and ended up at a hippie camp on the Red Sea. There she was given a loan of a cyclops and was completely floored by the magical underwater world. She got her diving certificate – and that's the way it is. Today she is a Master Scuba Diver, underwater photographer and professional WWF Whale Watching Guide.
In Lotta's professional life, she has worked as a photographer and designer, mainly in the press, but also with fashion and advertising. Over the years, she has also had around forty exhibitions in Sweden and internationally where she has shown artistic photographers and pictures of people she has met on trips around the world. The occasional scholarship has come her way. Between 2011 and 2015, Lotta was entrusted with the responsibility of, as the first woman, leading the Swedish Photographers' Association (SFF).
In parallel, Lotta has taught photography and design at universities and colleges, including as the main teacher for the Master of Photojournalism degree projects at Mid Sweden University. She loves teaching and helping others develop, become confident with their camera and happy with their photos.
Lotta also runs a shop with her own designed, eco-friendly, sun-protective clothing for divers and surfers, with patterns inspired by the sea. Mantaraj has clients all over the world today. Her workshops and trips focus on guiding you towards creating personal and expressive images – whether you shoot with a system camera, compact camera or action camera. You will receive practical guidance in both diving techniques and camera settings, but above all we work with image storytelling.
