South Central in the Maldives is a really good mix of diving in the southern and central parts to get a fantastic diving trip in the Maldives. Your diving trip here mixes wreck diving, shark diving both during the day and at night. Lovely current dives that take you past beautiful reefs filled with marine life.
This liveaboard, South Central in the Maldives is a fairly unusual route and you need to be quick to sign up when they are published. They are usually full up to at least a year in advance, sometimes longer. As you dive at so many atolls in the Maldives and get such a variety of diving, this dive trip is very popular.
South Male Atoll: Macro and wreck diving.
Vaavu Atoll: Lovely night dives and stingrays.
Thaa Atoll: Focus on shark diving.
Laamu Atoll: Dive with Hammerhead shark, reef shark, whale shark, manta rays.
please note: For this safari we recommend that you have an Advanced open water or equivalent certificate. You should also have at least 100 logged dives to be able to participate and fully enjoy the entire trip. Live aboard and diving trips in the Maldives do not run this tour very often unfortunately. The "South Central" safari includes very exciting diving where you travel through the central and southern atolls of the country. The route provides incredible variety and offers diving in the Maldives of a very high class.
This diving safari begins in South Malé Atoll with fine macro diving, Kuda Giri Wreck and the most challenging dive site in the area, Kandooma Thila, which always offers exciting diving. Here there is often a current but also often very large fish.
Then Vaavu atoll follows and a night dive at fantastic Alimatha is of course an obvious stop. A very popular dive site for night dives. The spectacle of nurse sharks and stingrays is something you won't soon forget. Meemu atoll offers beautiful wall dives, lots of fish and a really nice dive with manta rays. The route then continues south with a focus on hairalso in Thaa atoll where hammerheads and whale sharks are frequent.
The trip ends in Laamu atoll, an atoll that offers exciting current dives in channels with very good conditions for seeing pelagic fish. For example, hammerhead sharks, reef sharks, whale sharks, manta rays and eagle rays. The "South Central" route is filled with excitement and a lot of challenging diving. As a diver, you should be used to and appreciate diving in strong currents.
