The Turks & Caicos Aggressor ll crewed liveaboard is of the highest standard and is considered the best for this type of expedition. It is known for its good service, clean comfortable cabins and good food and the crew has many years of experience and great knowledge of Silver Bank and also of the diving around Turks & Caicos.
Common areas aboard the Turks & Caicos Aggressor ll include a spacious, air-conditioned salon and dining area, sun deck complete with hot tub, lounge and sun loungers, shaded bar and grill. There is a full photo center with digital video and computer for editing images. The aft deck contains individual equipment lockers, camera tables and two hot fresh water showers.
The reefs are rich in fish and the diving is a lot of wall diving or coral gardens. Reef and nurse sharks are often seen and even turtles and hammerhead sharks can be seen with a bit of luck. Seahorses, frogfish, various types of beautiful little blennies and much more are sometimes seen as well as loads of different crustaceans. Typical Caribbean diving and a cruise is very relaxing. Silver banks or Banco de la Plata is a subsurface sandbank in the Atlantic Ocean north of the Dominican Republic and southeast of the Turks & Caicos territory. It covers an area of 1 square kilometers. Silver Bank is underwater and almost reaches the surface of the sea in some areas (about 680 meters) deep in the shallow parts, but is mostly deeper. In its northern parts, many coral heads reach the sea surface, especially at low tide.
Among the coral heads is also the wrecked freighter Polyxeni. Because the Silver banks are shallow, it is not suitable for large ships to use the area for passage. All boats in the area must have a permit before entering the bank.
The area is considered part of the Dominican Republic. On October 14, 1986, the Dominican Republic established the Silver and Navidad Bank Sanctuary to protect this area as a safe haven for marine mammals.
During your cruise here to Silver banks you live on board and the boat maintains a high standard. During the whale watching days, everyone is divided into smaller groups that are helped to scout from smaller boats. The boats are in contact with each other. When whales are found, all boats are informed. The captain is the one who notifies the dive guide, who in turn finds out if it is time to slide into the water. If it's ok, the whole group carefully follows. The boats are equipped with diving ladders and sunroofs.
This is a real adventure for those who like large marine mammals and want to see whales, only snorkeling takes place these weeks on board.
