Features
Diving in Malapascua and Dauin, Philippines
Malapascua is a little gem in the middle of the Philippines. Here is one of the world's best and most famous places to dive and experience the incredibly beautiful thresher shark. Thresher sharks are basically seen daily out at one of the reefs and the diving is easy, shallow and comfortable. There is an opportunity to have the sharks right up in the mask and to take fantastic pictures.
The former reefs of the thresher sharks have started to attract tiger sharks and we will try to dive there as well to, if possible, experience these bastards as well. In addition to sharks, rays of various kinds are frequently seen here. Other dive sites are, for example, Gato Island, which is done as a day trip and where reef sharks are almost always seen. Apart from sharks, Malapascua is a very nice and relaxing island and there is also very good macro diving here.
Dauin – a diving paradise
Dauin in the central Philippines has become one of the Philippines' most popular destinations for divers in recent years. There is fantastic muck diving here. Large areas of sand and here and there oases with coral and reefs. In addition, fantastic reefs and small coral gardens with lots of marine life, fish and enormous species diversity. There are fish of different sizes, colors and shapes, even reef sharks, turtles, tuna, barracuda and other species are sometimes seen but also stingrays and eagle rays. Even manta rays and whale sharks sometimes pass by but with a lot of luck.
Invertebrates such as squid, nudibranchs, crustaceans and echinoderms dominate together with sponges, sea squirts and various corals or cnidarians. The species richness is fantastic and all dive sites are relatively close so it is rarely a long trip. The diving is varied and different animals thrive more or less well in different places so one day is rarely the same as the next. The marine life is really exciting and you will be able to experience a variety of strange animals that you may not have thought or even knew existed.
Dauin is a true diving paradise and you can actually go here all year round, with March and April being especially good as there are often a lot of frogfish and the weather is normally the best.
For those of you who wish to extend your trip either at the beginning or afterwards, it is entirely possible and we will help you find good solutions for this.
